| This is a multipart message in MIME format. --=_alternative 006A7DCB86256E84_= Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" My name is Cindy Lichtenauer and I am on the IIUG Board of Directors for 2004. I am responsible for LUG's (Local User Group's). Please feel free to contact me directly at (913)829-1405 or cindy@iiug.org. I will happy to answer any questions or deal with any concerns. I will also be happy to assist with the planning or start up of any local user group meetings worldwide. I can help arrange speakers and send out email blasts to active IIUG members in your locations. As stated in previous emails, IBM does not fund any of the LUG's directly, but they are willing to provide various things via an IBM liasion, who is assigned to each LUG. IBM considers the User Group programs to be very important to the company and their products. The IBM liasions are there to assist the LUG's and provide support in the following ways: arrange IBM facilities for meetings, arrange for food and beverage as appropriate, provide promotional giveaways, fund IBM speaker expenses. A good number of the LUG's also receive funding from 3rd parties, by giving them slots for presentations at the meetings or sponsorships. Also, I believe the majority of the LUG's websites are hosted on the IIUG server. (UK IUG included) Hope this helps, Cindy Cindy Lichtenauer Systems Engineer - IBM/Informix Sales Computer Software Alliance 6405 Metcalf Ave. Suite 303 Overland Park, KS 66202 http://www.csatech.net Phone: Toll Free (866)CSA-0251 "David Linthwaite" <dlinthwaite@lintel.co.uk> Sent by: owner-informix-list@iiug.org 04/28/2004 07:40 AM To: <informix-list@iiug.org> cc: Subject: RE: IIUG Funding The UK IUG gets no funding from the IIUG - should we ? I am not aware of any funding to help in administering the user group either from the IIUG or IBM, although IBM does allow us to use its facilities. If funding were available for web maintenance, meetings and administration then I believe that it would have a very positive impact on the user group activities. So is IBM and many other vendors. What websites and meetings are you asking about? I was just at the largest IIUG local user group meeting in Washington D.C. last week. About 150 people attended and there wasn't a shortage of funding that I could see. What group are you a part of or which one would you like to help start?
