| Tam, Gil, I am not looking at upsetting anyone here, and people tend to be upset real quick those days... A lot of us are fighting really strong for Informix. I also work on project involving myriads of other engines. When I have some questions on DB2 I go to the IDUG's forum, same for Oracle or MySQL. If I had some migration plans from MySQL to SQL Server, I would probably go to the SQL Server forum and not provoke a troll war on the MySQL forum. And you are right, I should not have said "we" but "some of us", and therefore I apologize on this very precise part of my answer. Peace. jgp > -----Original Message----- > From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list- > bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Tam OShanter > Sent: Friday, September 29, 2006 20:43 > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Infomix test databases for migration to SQL Server - please > help > > Wait a minute, > > You guys have been most helpful to me in the past, and I have appreciated > the open exchange of information on the group. > > So, why are you so upset by this fellows question? > > If IFX is a superior product, you should be encouraging this guy to do > what > he's doing in the hopes that folks will see that IFX does some things much > better than SQL Server. > > I didn't think there was an "accepted topic" list here. > > I work on Oracle, Pervasive, SQL Server, Sybase and Informix, and embrace > the relative strengths and weaknesses of each. > > BTW, who said that you speak for everyone on the group when you say "we do > not want to debate here". > > Pretty arrogant if you ask me, and that kind of attitude doesn't exactly > server to spread the good news about what a strong product Informix really > is. > > Just my 2 cents.
