| DE, I like your medical analogy, but I don't see to what it applies... Facts: - IDS license sales (not maintenance) have grown over 20% in Q1 06 and Q2 06. - New unique (and impressive) solutions (<--- look @ final S) are being developed on (and only) IDS because it's the only database capable of its unique feature set. - New customers! New users! - Partners to demo applications and be proud of being Informix partners. - Consultants to show-up at events. - Commitment to major release every 18 months: and they (IBM) STICK to it, Cheetah's the next one. - New features provoke happiness on DBAs faces (as I am not one, I know it's pretty difficult to get one to laugh before he/she had a couple of beers). - Pragmatic XML in vNext... - One sad thing: the end of ISA :-)... Replaced by another web-based tool, providing more features, more reporting capabilities... Where do I got all that from? It's all public, from an IBM Software Group meeting in Paris. They don't hide Informix in Informix-only event, it is highlighted... I did a small report here: http://www.jgp.net/index.php?option=...52&Itemi d=28 Is that a sign of anemia? If yes, please give me a shot! Also look at the number of newbies questions in this forum and others. Is it the sign of a dying product? Well, not for me Sir! Can IBM do a better job? Sure! They can always progress. They are listening. Did Informix do a good marketing job in its time? I'll let you answer... I am not sure that doing a new billboard war would do us any good. Seriously, the situation, for us Informix users, is far better than it used to be 3-4 years ago, and I think it is better than 6-7 years ago. jgp > -----Original Message----- > From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list- > bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Double Echo > Sent: Saturday, September 30, 2006 03:12 > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Infomix test databases for migration to SQL Server - please > help > > > I couldn't agree more with your post. > > This product is on a respirator, waiting to die.
