| Cisco is a well known Informix user, isn't it Nancy? France Telecom is another... thus it is more an operator. Informix is doing well. Plenty of interesting deals are done, being done, etc. IBM should certainly communicate more around that, but IBM is IBM... jgp > -----Original Message----- > From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list- > bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Hamilton, Jerry > Sent: Monday, August 07, 2006 16:55 > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: RE: Informix business grew by double digits in 2006 (Q1+Q2) > > "a really BIG networking company" > > Cisco? > > -----Original Message----- > From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org > [mailto:informix-list-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Eric Rowell > Sent: Monday, August 07, 2006 8:16 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Informix business grew by double digits in 2006 (Q1+Q2) > > Thank you for the clarification I missed that. How does a developer or consultant rally behind a software product that few if any people know about? How does that work? Why should developers get excited or interested in something that they are not sure there will be a future or be able to find work? Why should a developer support a product that the vendor is reluctant to support publicly? Why is the burden of brand support in the market on the developer community or existing customer base? Is the vendor just a lazy slob? How does that work? |

| IBM is hamstrung by legal requirements to only use customer names with permission. This is where the community can help. If you work for a company who's name would lend credibility to the Informix brand, please work with your IBM rep to provide a reference. If you are an IBM business partner, your reference would be of great value. If you don't want to or can't be a full blown case study (IBM's favorite kind of reference), providing a quote that IBM can leverage is of great value. If you don't know who your rep is or need additional help, call 1-800-426-4968 (1-800-IBM-4-YOU) and ask to speak with Linda Currie or just say you want to speak with someone in Information Management regarding references. If you work for a company who's name would lend credibility to the Informix brand, please work with your IBM rep to provide a reference. If you are an IBM business partner, your reference would be of great value. I'd echo this. IBM and Ardenta are issuing a press release this week about the world's largest company in its sector (yes, it will be named, and one of its employees is a regular contributor to cdi) renewing its commitment to Inormix in a close-to-US$2m deal. I would say, business partners, that if you involve IBM your own involvement may be somewhat understated in your own view. But He who Pays the Piper Calls the Tune, as everywhere. |
