While it is in fact pronounced 'Boy-see' by the inhabitants, it is actually
spelled 'Boise'. For extra points, ask about the river/county over on the
Oregon border. ;-) It can be difficult to aurally devine the original
french spellings given the current pronounciations

Let me also point out that Boise is a wonderful place for outdoor activities
(especially biking). Excellent zoo (lots of cats), lots of good parks, you
can see bald eagles along the river, rodeos. It is not exactly the cultural
Mecca of the NorthWest, the nearest cities are Portland (~425miles) and Salt
Lake City (~300miles). Very dry climate. Good golf courses. Nice little
american town.
