Way back when, in the world of Online5, there were a lot of resellers who couldn't sell maintenance. So the companies that bought products on top of Online5, never got registered so they became "lost". (Which is why there's an unknown number of Informix users out there.) Nobody knows, and maybe the IIUG has the best chance of figuring this out based on their records. It would be interesting to see a Ruby or Python replacement to 4GL. (Python using TCL/Tk could be used for standalone apps and most of the non Gui code is portable to a web based environment. I've seen a guy's work where he ties his Python stuff directly to Apache.) I've become a big fan of Python. I'd be a bigger fan if I didn't have to rely on cx_Oracle and oracle's stupid concepts of user and temp tables. (Those who know oracle and IDS know exactly what I mean. ;-) -G __________________________________________________ _______________ Peek-a-boo FREE Tricks & Treats for You! http://www.reallivemoms.com?ocid=TXT_TAGHM&loc=us |
