Tsutomu , Thanks for your reply.

We had tried out adding '+' in hosts.equiv but it didn't solve the
problem.

Both the source and the destination server are on HP UX 11.00. Both the
servers are trusted and "passwd aging" is disabled. We tried converting
the destination server to non-trusted mode but still the problem
persists.

Sqlhost of target server contains :

ifx731_srv olsoctcp GARFIELD sqlexec3

where sqlexec3 is mapped to 1528 in /etc/services

sqlhost on source server contains:

ifx731_srv olsoctcp GARFIELD 1528

Try the following.

Add + to /etc/hosts.equiv.
ie.) cat /etc/hosts.equiv
+

Same error ?

Sounds like your information is not enough.

Post both(server and client) of sqlhosts.
And what OS are you using on client ?
