I think there's also a cultural difference here. US people seem far more
used to paying pretty large sums for conferences. Here I think it's much
less prevalent.
David would have to pay, say, £400 for a flight to Tampa and £500
subsistence. To then be asked to pay one-and-a-half times as much again in
conference fees - probably out of his own pocket - is a big, big ask.

I agree with you that the events that Lester, the WAIUG and the SEIUG
sponsor are excellent.

However, your point about much better content and atmosphere, I cannot agree
with.

This years event in Tampa will probably be the best Informix Conference
content wise
we have ever had. And, I think provide good value for the money.
