Subject: shared memory not initiaized for INFORMIXSERVER

I'm removing the indexes and recreating them in my informix database and all
the onstat commands were working fine. Now all of a sudden I am seeing this
error when performing any onstat commands:

shared memory no initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 'informixservername'

Why is this?
sending to informix-list

I wish! Unfortunately the vendor who supplies the app, supplies and supports on
that
version of Informix only.

Give them a pile of grief. A BIG pile of grief. We have had have our
4GL application running against a number of different 7.2 & 7.3 versions
of IDS over the years, and one customer is now running it (4Js not RDS)
against 9.4. We've not had to change a line of code.

7.31.UC4?

Informix 7.31 is now at 7.31.UD7

Several thousand bugs fixed, time to look fo rthat maintenance
contract and get an upgrade!! Or did support go the same way as the
training courses?

unfortunately the database comes with the application, so it's down
to the application vendor to determine the informix changes.

Well... My view is that you should be able to upgrade the database
itself. However this may affect your support on the application - so I
think you need to get back to the supplier and sort it out with them.
