In fact it doesn't even guarantee a new version. It says updates which I read as "bug fixes". And providing a path for Informix customers does not necessarily mean new version with new features. It could mean ... migrate to DB/2 Universal Server. I understand your loyalty to your employer. I understand you are in the cheerleading section. But quite frankly if Informix is still being marketed as an independent product five years from now I'll be shocked. And as someone else pointed out ... this is the company whose commitment to OS/2 was rock solid. Daniel A. Morgan ' So, I wonder who this nebbish is, and whether he's counting down the 206 days till IBM discontinues support for Informix as an independent product. Because he couldn't be wrong, now could he? -- Bye now, Obnoxio "C'est pas parce qu'on n'a rien ` dire qu'il faut fermer sa gueule" - Coluche did i mention i like nulls? heck, i even go so far as to say that all columns in a table except the primary key could/should be nullable. this has certain advantages, for example, if you need to insert a child record and you don't have a parent row for it, just do an insert into the parent table with the primary key value (everything else null), and voila, relational integrity is preserved. but this is, admittedly, a bit controversial among modellers. --r937, dbforums.com sending to informix-list sending to informix-list |
