| I know that pricing and licensing affect the "leaving" issue. I can see (even though our VAR has not yet announced it) that we will be moving to MicroSlop Squeel. And so will the 180 plus other Colleges served by our VAR. No there has been no formal announcement, but the writing is very very plainly on the wall. The time frame is probably within 5 years. And they will evidentally be migrating one branch of services from O***** to Squeel as well. Yes, I share the fondness of many of the other members of this group for Informix. But the only constant consistent rule seems to be change. Evolution and growth (and newer versions!) are always part and parcel of the DBA's job. Too bad IBM's corporate strategizers seem to have missed that essential fact. Too close to the sand to see the castle?
