| Don't forget Washington, MO. It's a wonderful town that sits on the Missouri river in the heart of Missouri wine country. -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.org [mailto On Behalf Of Captain Pedantic Sent: Sunday, June 05, 2005 2:24 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Washington Area Informix User Group meeting - Tuesday, June 7, 2005 "DA Morgan" <damorgan@psoug.org> wrote in message news:1117995416.869183@yasure... > Lester Knutsen wrote: >> Washington Area Informix User Group meeting - Tuesday, June 7, 2005 > FYI: There are two Washington's in the US and some of us in the > State would appreciate it if you clarified it if you mean D.C. If he were referring to Washington, the state, he would likely not use the phrase "Washingon Area", as that is not a construction generally used in association with geographic areas that are themselves already very large. So it's reasonable to assume that he means a metropolitan area such as Washington D.C.. There are in fact many more than two Washingtons (no apostrophe!!!!!!) in the United States, so it could have been that, for example, he meant Washington in Ohio. And in fact, being American, you just assume that his audience is exclusively American, but he might even have referring to Washington, Tyne and Wear, England (although there are some clues in the post that suggest that this is not the case (and some of those same clues also indicate that he is referring to Washington D.C.)). But actually, he does indeed mean Washington D.C. sending to informix-list |
