Hi,

I had a similar problem during a desaster recovery test of an Informix
database server onto a new machine.

After cold restoring, the database instance couldn't open the temporary
dbspaces and I got the same error you encountered.(Checking database
partition index...FAILED)

Doing an external restore (onbar -r -e) cleared the situation.
The engine cleared the phys- and logical logs and comes up without problems.

OK. it worked, but don't ask me what's behind the scene...
I don't understand the details :-(
