secure password transmission under 9.4x using managed provider

I'm about to tear my hair out trying to find any sort of documentation
on how to securely connect to 9.4x from a .NET application using SDK
2.81 TC3 on Windows Server 2003.

I know there's a JDBC setting that will use 56-bit encryption when
transmitting the pwd from the client to the server, and I'm looking for
something similar for an ASP.NET client. I've scoured the web and all
known Informix documentation (Admin Guide, Programmer's Reference, etc)
and can't find anything. Perhaps I'm not using the right jargon or
search, but there's gotta be a way to do this, right?
