Default Server Studio - newbie question

The brand new shiny version of Server Studio looks like it has some
pretty impressive features.

One thing I can't glean is whether it is a server-based product that
you browse to (like ISA) or whether you have to install it on every
client you want to administer from.

Does anyone know?

Andy

Where did you get it from?
The lastest version available on PA is v3, from June last year.

http://www.serverstudio.com.

Released only a matter of weeks ago.

Though digging deeper I see you still have to buy it to get any of the
workmanlike features.

The latest version of Server Studio JE 4.0 (with Sentinel performance
monitoring server) is available at:

www.serverstudio.com/downloads.html

Server Studio JE is a client-based product. It can connect remotely to
multiple IDS instances. Unlike ISA, it does not require any Informix
server-side installation.

New version of SSJE 4.0 has a Sentinel server component that provides
proactive IDS performance monitoring, user-defined alerting,
collection of server historical performance data in a built-in
repository, capture of SQL statements executed by user sessions,
scheduling of database maintenance jobs, automation of alert event
responses, graphical tools for historical server performance analysis,
and other features.

Sentinel server is an application server. You can install it on any
host and configure it to monitor multiple remote IDS instances. No
installation is required on database server hosts. Server Studio JE
serves as GUI client for Sentinel allowing multiple DBAs to connect to
the same instance of Sentinel server to watch monitored data in
real-time, query collected historical performance data and captured
SQL statements, view generated alert logs, create custom monitor and
alert definitions, etc.

The SSJE 4.0 setup includes Sentinel server. It is installed as a
service under Windows 2000/XP/NT or as a background process under
Unix/Linux.
Once installed and started, Sentinel server can be connected from any
Server Studio JE 4.0 client (local or remote)

You can find more information about Server Studio JE 4.0 and Sentinel
server at:
