Default Slowness in COM connections.

This concerns IDS 9.4 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
One of our client's servers started running like a snail in the middle
of the day after a reboot. Just COM connections were affected.
DBaccess ran as fast a usual. This is a dual 2.4 ghz Pentium 4
(Hyperthreaded)
with 2gb ram and really fast scsi's, so it is normally a fast box.

Anything going through ODBC crawled (all .exe's, all com objects, ...) .
I brought the system up on another older server to get them going.

We have the offendingmachine back in the office and cannot figure out
what is slowing it down.

We now find that Network Neighborhod takes about 45 seconds to open.
Sounds like Windows is sick someplace.
Any ideas - other than go back to Unix ;-) ???

Hi

Sounds like the issue might be related to some potential DNS type
problem. What ODBC driver are you using here. Potentially, you could
try using an IP address instead?
