Default User CPU usage on Red Hat Linux Enterprise 3 Server

Hi all,

The Informix Dynamic Server 9.4 FC3 is on Red Hat Linux Enterprise
Server 3 on HP Itanium machine, with 4 CPU's and 4 GB ram.

On starting the Informix Database server, and accessing the Database
from the Application, which is on Tru64 machine, the maximum CPU usage
is seen at User area.

Would like to have some information with respect to the above
scenario. We would like to bring the usage of User CPU to an average
level.

Kindly provide us with relavent information,

Thanks and regards,
Arvind.

Default Re: User CPU usage on Red Hat Linux Enterprise 3 Server

The database engine is going to be doing far more work than the application
code, so it is expected to have the engine doing more work than the client
code. Also don't forget that a single oninit process is usually going to be
supporting a whole bunch of client applications.
