Default Truncating the session table - ingres 2.5

What can be the reason for long execution time of the query:

Query text:
modify session.g4i002 to TRUNCATED
Query Send Time: Thu Apr 22 16:25:09 2004
Query Response Time: Thu Apr 22 16:25:31 2004
Qry End CPU Time: 406220
?

The application repeats the following in a loop:
modify session.g4i002 to truncated;
insert some records into that table;
do some processing;
commit;

At some point the MODIFY begins to take 20 seconds or so.

Well that pretty much has to be a bug. (There seem to be a lot of them
about today.) What version are you using? There used to be problems like
this a few releases ago.
