Using row level locking in JDBC application?

Hi,

we'd like to use edbc.jar / iijdbc server for java applications (yes, I
know iijdbc.jar / DAS is available in Ingres 3, but we need
compatibility with 2.x releases).

Is it possible to tell the JDBC driver or the drivermanager to use row
level locking?
