| I inherited a A3500FC. We also have a 220R Server directly attached to a dual fibre channel controller. My question is can we connect the A3500FC to a Fibre switch and use it as a SAN in a multi OS configuration (Solaris, linux, Windows and tru64). This will not be a production environment but a Development/Test environment. Also I saw on the SUN site that solaris is supported till release 8. Is solaris 10 compatible with this? Thanks for any info. |

Possibly. My memory is that the 3500 is loop only, no fabric. So your switch would need to support displaying a loop device to fabric hosts. In addition, the management utility is Solaris SPARC only. So foreign hosts should be able to see LUNS if properly created and displayed, but would not be able to monitor or configure the unit itself > Also I saw on the SUN site that solaris is supported till release 8. Under 10, the RDAC driver will not load. You probably can't manage the system without it (although I've seen one person report that the command line tools still work), but you could probably continue to use configured LUNs. -- Darren Dunham ddunham@taos.com Senior Technical Consultant TAOS http://www.taos.com/ Got some Dr Pepper?
