| hi, I'm in trouble with a Ultra-5 workstation... the symptoms are when I switch on the PSU (at the rear) the station is powering up : i mean the keyboard emits beep normaly, but the screen remains off, and I hear there is no hard drive activity... stop-A or stop-D does nothing visible, so I don't know what to do ! I'm a newbie with sun hardware (and software...) so any suggestion wild be helpfull ! regards, -- Rico |

Agreed! Out of curiosity -- is there a separate framebuffer (graphics card) plugged into the PCI bus? If so, have you tried it as well as the built-in framebuffer? Of course -- if you have a plain old ASCII terminal, that would work just as well as the terminal programs on a PC. (I've still got two of them around here -- one of which is the console on a SS-10 server which I have. Your Ultra-5 will work with IDE drives up to 120 GB (really up to 137 GB, but 120 GB is the nearest available drive.)
