| I have an application that currently run accross on five (5) RS/6000 7011-250 66Mhz PowerPC. I would like to consolidate these servers onto a sun platform. Will a single Sunfire V210 with 2 1.3GHz processors be able to handle the load of all five RS/6000 ? |

That depends on the application, but I'd guesstimate that the V210 has more than enough CPU power and memory. Another limiting factor is I/O performance - if the disks in the RS6k machines are at their limit you'd better add some external disks to the V210. If the application is not heavy on floating point, then you you could consider a T1000, 8x1GHz cores should compare well against 5x66MHz! And of course, you could get it on Try & Buy, if it does not work out, send it back and get the V210. Garry |
