| I have an Ultra 60 here at home with a D1000 attached to a dual-diff Sun SCSI card, and I'm experiencing a few problems. I have the D1000 set up (I think!) as two 6 bay packs each on it's own controller on the SCSI board. I've filled it with a fair old hotch-potch of SCA disk I have lying around, plus a few leeched cheaply off Ebay. The setup is really just to test Veritas Volume Manager for a project at work, if I ever get that far! I like Disksuite anyway but........ All the disks I have appear to work individually, tested in an Ultra 30 and seen from OBP, but when in the D1000 I can never get them to all be seen at once. This is my current disk list... AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS: 0. c0t0d0 <SUN18G cyl 7506 alt 2 hd 19 sec 248> /pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/sd@0,0 1. c2t0d0 <COMPAQ-DCHS04Y-5858 cyl 5062 alt 2 hd 9 sec 184> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1/sd@0,0 2. c2t1d0 <COMPAQ-ST34572WC-0892 cyl 5887 alt 2 hd 8 sec 178> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1/sd@1,0 3. c2t2d0 <COMPAQ-DCHS04Y-5151 cyl 5062 alt 2 hd 9 sec 184> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1/sd@2,0 4. c2t5d0 <IBM-DPSS-336950M-S96H cyl 14374 alt 2 hd 10 sec 502> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1/sd@5,0 5. c3t8d0 <COMPAQ-DCHS04Y-5656 cyl 5062 alt 2 hd 9 sec 184> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1,1/sd@8,0 6. c3t9d0 <COMPAQ-HD00431731-3208 cyl 6529 alt 2 hd 6 sec 214> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1,1/sd@9,0 7. c3t11d0 <HP-4.26GBA80-DC1B-DC1B cyl 7640 alt 2 hd 5 sec 218> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1,1/sd@b,0 8. c3t12d0 <SUN2.1G cyl 2733 alt 2 hd 19 sec 80> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1,1/sd@c,0 9. c3t13d0 <IBM-DPSS-336950M-S96H cyl 14374 alt 2 hd 10 sec 502> /pci@1f,2000/scsi@1,1/sd@d,0 Only 10 disks, should be 13 inc the boot drive in the U60. I can move the disks about, reboot -- -r and they may appear in another slot, and another one will disappear. Too many permutations to try them all. This is a previous effort.... And c3t12d0 <SUN2.1G cyl 2733 alt 2 hd 19 sec 80> is a 4.3gb Sun disk according to the casing label!! Anyway, I've tried stuff like deleting /dev/dsk/c2* /dev/dsk/c3* and the rdsk equivs and reconfig booting but same end result. The only thing I haven't done is rebuild the Ultra 60, which is patched up Sol 9 and also my jumpstart server so I'm reluctant to do that! Only other thing is I don't have the scsi chain actively terminated. There are not other devices on them, and I relied on auto-term. I'm off to fiddle with the switches on the back again.... Steve |

Think I solved it. After a lot of trial and error seems two identical HP-badged Seagate drives don't wanna play ball. Digging out some replacements now... Steve |
