Default Fast disk wipe?

I've been tasked with liquidating a large quantity of Ultra 5s, and need
to wipe the disks. They don't need purging to DOD standards, writing
random bits to the entire disk will do, but merely nuking the partition
table is insufficient.

I'd prefer something I can boot from CD and have it do the job without
further intervention. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

fast and fun for old hard disks for me is melt them to crap with an
oxy/acetylene torch. gives great satisfaction of destruction.

Shirley, the *dual* 4lb lump hammers win every time?
With perfect rhythm - and good hickory handles - you can get a
much higher throughput...
(And feel like a Norse God, while you do it.)
Admittedly the satisfaction of destruction quotient is about the same,
at 94.34%... (Rising, according to my figures, to 101.3% on the
Arson-Pyromanic Scale for the oxy/acetylene approach.)
The really good news is...
You end up with an upper body just like a younger Arnold
Schwarzenegger! Which is lovely...
Unless, of course, your lower body looks like Darcey Bussell.
Still... Isn't that better than the other way around?

You certainly should be able to boot from CDROM, run format,
and do a analyze->purge or analyze->write or analyze->verify.

It's *not* fast (you have to write the whole disk, no
getting around it), but if all the boxes have CDROMs,
it's certainly easy enough.
