I've got one on my wife's machine. I got it at MicroCenter. It was on sale through the month of April for $299.99 (after the rebates, -- two of $30.00 each, so you are out of pocket $359.99 at first. It is the Acer 17". You will need to configure the framebuffer to the proper resolution for the screen, as it does not handle 1152x900 gracefully. (I had pre-configured this framebuffer, so I don't know whether it recognized the defaults of the monitor or not. The command which you will need is: m64config -res 1280x1024x76 And -- if you have sufficient memory in the system (this one does not -- until an already-won ebay auction delivers some additional), you will also want to add this: -depth 24 to the m64config command. And you will probably need to do it form the command-line login before you allow X11 to restart. I'd suspect that you already know that your Ultra 5 has a 13w3 video connection, versus the 15-pin that you are about to buy. You'll need a converter. I got mine at http://www.ultraspec.com/ and run a Samsung 17" LCD from it. Rob |

I was thinking of my Ultra 60. Sorry for the error. Rob |

It just so happens that I'm about to upgrade my wife's machine from an Ultra 1 200E to an Ultra 5. She wants a flat monitor. :-) -- Rick Kelly rmk@rmkhome.com <http://www.rmkhome.com/> <http://rkba.rmkhome.com/> - the right to keep and bear arms <http://wolf.rmkhome.com/> - firearm forums |

I *do* have to use a converter to use a 19" KDS LCD monitor on my Ultra-2 with Creator-3D framebuffer. >I got mine at http://www.ultraspec.com/ and run a Samsung 17" LCD from it. I'm interested to know where you got an Ultra-5 with a 13W3 framebuffer connector. Are you perhaps thinking of a SS-5 instead? That does use the 13W3, and that was my wife's previous machine. Dunno about ultra 5, but 10s came with various video options, some of which had 13W3. --tim |

I mentioned higher up in the thread I was thinking of my Ultra 60 when I posted that comment. My Ultra 5 does indeed have 15-pin, as you guys have pointed out regarding your boxes. The converter I bought, and cited the web source for, was used for my Ultra 60. Again, sorry for the slip-up. Rob |
