GDM-17E10 Monitor - Ctrl-Button

Hello *,
I have a 17E10 Monitor that works fine, but I couldn't find any
documentation.
It has an additional knob on the front labelled "CTRL". What is this one
for?

And then, I assume it's a Sony tube. Is that right?
