The TCO study I did on them (800s) had them coming in at around 60% of Sun
on a 3 year basis. Performance wise the SPARC64 seems to be around 10-15%
faster on a clock for clock basis than the US-III and the binary
compatibility seems to be perfect.

At the bottom end of the range the FSC boxes are actually just rebadged Suns
- as a rule anything with a US-IIi in it is a rebadged Sun with the SPARC64
only appearing in their own boxes.

Mind passing on where the significant differences came in?

A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in
human history with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila.

Capital cost and equivalent maintenance on my comparison. Also the ability
to work on your own hardware without it causing Sun to throw a hissy fit
and go "We won't support that".
