Default The infamous monitor issues and a Sun Ultra 5

I've recently purchased a Sun Ultra 5 from ebay (yeah I know....)

I'm attempting to hook up a standard PC Monitor to the HD15 connector on the
back of this machine. One of the monitors (really old monitor, a 15''
NEC/MultiSYNC 3d) shows a lot of white garbage that appears to segment to
the right (possible issue with H-SYNC?). The other monitor (a 17'' KDS
XF-7b flat screen) will not pull a signal. This monitor goes into a sleep
mode after about 1 min of no signal. This sleep mode stops when the machine
is restarted. I've connected a null modem cable to the RS232 connector on
the back of the machine and got console access. I've attempted to setenv
output-device screen:r640x480x60 as well as m64config -res 640x480x60 -depth
8, to no avail. This video mode is supported by both the graphics card in
the machine and the monitor per m64config.....anyone have any ideas on this
one?

Thanks
Travis Ferguson
