| Hello World, This person who posted the message I have copied below, has exactly the same problem as me and it was never resolved on usenet AFAIK. However, my equipment is different. I have a Blade 1000, 4Gb. I put a 2nd CPU in it and got the "Fast Data Access MMU Miss" error, this happens often including in the openfirmware prompt. I see "{0} ok" and "cpu speed mismatch assuming ..., check nvram settings..." on power on, and the system boots and runs fine, seems faster, but putting in the 2nd CPU caused it not to recognize the video card, I had been running it on serial A anyway. The guy who sold me the CPU pulled it from one from the same batch as my machine came from so how could the CPU speed mis-match be? Intel had single and multiprocessor versions back in WinNT4.0 days... Is it possible that the problem we are both seeing that some models of CPU are slightly different and incompatible in someway and if so, how? Or do I need to setenv something at the ok prompt? Or is it that CPU speeds are mis-matched on the same model workstation??? I have pulled the CPU out and might try to exchange it, so if there is something I can tell this guy, please tell me what to say to him. Any opinions welcome. I never read the email account I am signed in on. | Hey, this are the requirements from SUN: 1. The minimum Operating System is Solaris 8 10/00 with the following patches: 109888-05 or later 110460-01 or later 111292-03 or later (OBP 4.2.4) See FIN I0697-1 for more information. 2. OBP 4.4 Version 6 adds support for Patches 109888 and 110460. 3. The Sun Blade 1000 System Board supports mixed module speeds if the UltraSPARC III frequency is a whole number multiple of 150MHz. 4. Mixing UltraSPARC III and UltraSPARC III Cu is not supported. 5. If only one CPU module is installed, it must be in Slot 0, and Slot 1 should be covered with a CPU Shroud Cover. 6. Use torque tool 340-6091 or 340-6395 to install this module. Both are calibrated to 5.0 +/- 0.5 in/lbs (.565 Nm). 7. A torque tool is included with systems that use this module. Hope it helps.
