| How do I connect to this from another PC? What sort of cable do I need? Network cable or crossover? I've got serial 9pin convertor which I can plug into serial port of PC. Tried using hyperterm on COM1 but no joy.... Am I missing something? |

The cable should be a crossover, and your settings should be 8-N-1, 9600 should work fine. If you have other machines around, test on those so you can determine if your setup works with other boxes. I always forget how flow control needs to be set, but try them and save your config when it works patrick |

If you have the DE-9F to RJ-45 adapter that Sun supplies (530-3100-xx) you just use a standard straight through network cable. If you need the pinouts to make one of these I have them at work. Hyperterminal works fine for me in this application. |
