| I'm trying to find out what the maximum memory is that can be installed in a 550 MHz Sun Fire V100. I've seen some references that say that with a 550 MHz processor, 1 GB per DIMM slot can be addressed. On the other hand, everthing seems to indicate a 2 GB max total memory. The V120 (very different mainboard, I know) can go to 4 GB. Does anyone know if the V100 is truly limited to 2 GB? Please remove the "nospam" from my address if responding via email. -- Jeff Wieland |

Well, any reason not to take the handbook's word for it: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub...V100/spec.html Casper -- Expressed in this posting are my opinions. They are in no way related to opinions held by my employer, Sun Microsystems. Statements on Sun products included here are not gospel and may be fiction rather than truth. |

Sunsolve also says that the SPARCclassic can only use 16MB SIMMs, but one can apparently put 2 32MB SIMMs in the first bank, and have 128 MB of memory in total. -- Jeff Wieland |

If you're asking what is the maximum DIMM size which is supported - it's 512MB (total memory 2Gb). If you're asking what is the maximum DIMM size which will work - I've got no idea! Scott. ~ |
