| Greetings! Don't want to sound blasphemous, but I would like to satisfy my curiosity. Can Microsoft 2000 or Microsoft 2003 Server install/run on the Sun x86 platform servers? Has anyone out there tried it or had any experience with it? Cheers, Joe |

My guess is that older Microsoft OS will require drivers from the vendor. Sun will be submitting certifications for its x86 servers to MS. <URL:http://www.infoworld.com/article/04/01/16/HNsunx86_1.html> John groenveld@acm.org |

| Sure! These things aren't much more than generic x86 boxes. I tried just that for fun on an LX50 early on (man did the rails on that thing SUCK) As long as your OS has drivers for the hardare (most do.) You can run Solaris/linux/windows/CPM (ok, maybe not) or whatever. And given that the newer machines are competetively priced they could be a good choice for people otherwise looking at machines from a company that will remain nameless but whose initals are DELL "Joseph Dimech" <joe@tsc-corp.com> wrote in message news:<DLQPb.2970$tL2.1870@nwrddc03.gnilink.net>... > Greetings! > > Don't want to sound blasphemous, but I would like to satisfy my > curiosity. | Both the V60/V65x and LX50 and just rebranded Intel servers (SR-1200, SR-3200 etc). I get my spares (mostly fans) from Intel as they're much cheaper than Sun.
