| Hello, We have a number of Sunblade 150 machines to mount in cabinets ideally on their side. The response from a Sun Product Manager was: "I believe engineering determined the only problem was with operating the CD-ROM, because we do not offer clips to hold the disk in place. Otherwise everything else is fine." Has anyone had any direct experience with mounting these computers on the side. Regards, Mike |

The only other thing I can think of is that disks formatted in one orientation may be unreadable in another. -- Wishing you good fortune, --Robin Kay-- (komadori) |

What's wrong with formatting them one way, and using them another? Vu. |

Many years ago hard disks had difficulties if you formatted them in one orientation, and then used them in another. Hasn't been a problem for well over 5 years... Scott. |

I don't think I've ever come across that problem, although I have heard about it, but that was many years ago back in high school. I finished high school 5 years ago, so maybe the problem had been addressed. Does anyone know what caused the problem? Was it just gravity making the head move ever so slightly out of place? Vu. |

Maybe the bits keep falling on the floor if you set it sideways. :-) (I could've said it presumably hurts more sideways, but I was trying to be politely silly...oops, went and said it anyway...oh well...) -- mailto:rlhamil@smart.net http://www.smart.net/~rlhamil |
