| I just received my first Sun rackmount server, a Sun Fire V210. I have been holding off from buying a rack itself, and good thing, because I had a surprise when opening the V210. I assumed the V210 would be the same size as the Dell Poweredge 1650's I have, and the same as the APC rack UPS I have, but it isn't. The Dell servers and APC UPS are about 18" wide (19" on post centers), whereas the V210 is about 16". I then assumed, again, that maybe there is a spacer assembly that came with the V210 to make up for the skinny width. But I am seeing only the side rails, and the instructions offer nothing in regard to width spacing. So my question is (keeping in mind I am a rack newbie), is the V210 (and any other Sun server of the same width) meant to be able to reside in the same server rack as other non-Sun equipment? What is the procedure to accomodate this? Any rack I have seen on the internet is around 19" from post centers, so I am guessing I should still buy one of those racks, and then I need a conversion kit for this V210 (and future Sun servers)? Thanks for any help. Rob |

The only problem that could arise is related to the depth of the rack. HTH, Axel Neumann |
