Default newbie Enterprise 3000 storage question

I might get my hands on an Enterprise 3000 server and am wondering
what my options are to use the included SCA drives and chassis with a
faster SCSI interface. I see the stock unit is SCSI-2 fast/wide, or
20MB/sec. If a PCI SCSI card is put in that is also on a 68-pin
interface, can it use the bus for the SCA drives or am I completely
off-base? Of course I would find SCA drives that are compatable with
the faster standard (ie Wide Ultra2 SCSI) -

Please cc my mail address on replies and thanks for the help!

Best,
d.

What is your goal in all of this?

The disks are all standard hard drives and can be used in nearly any
array that will take those types of drives.

You cannot change the type of SCSI that the backplane uses.

You can use external disks to get better performance. Is your
performance in fact bound by the disks?

As for PCI, chances are you'll get a SBUS system and PCI cards won't
work in it. If you want to stay within the realm of what has been
tested then see:
