Whoa, time has changed Nice to see good work Sun.

Maybe, but I like the idea of having as fast a network as is resonably
possible at home.

This is for my home network, so there's only one server. I have a
few workstations here, all of which mount several file systems from
the server (including /home), hence my desire for GBE.

We've got an E250 with a Sysconnect card; it and the hme interface are
permanently wired to the local gigabit switch. For an upgrade,
mv /etc/hostname[6].skge0 /etc/hostname[6].hme0, do the upgrade,
mv 'em back. Just did it (finally) for 9-10 upgrade.

Pete.

How does the board perform and the load on the CPUs?

Subjectively, not noticeably different from a Cassini. Although by
definition, we're using Sysconnects in systems which are old enough
not to come with gigabit so I can't do a direct comparison. Some of
these guys also have their single 66MHz slot already occupied by a
SCSI card.

You could try the SK-9821 10/100/1000 Adapter from Syskonnect.
I do not have that Adapter myself, but it lists as supported on ALOT
of plattforms aswell as Solaris 7,8,9 for 32 and 64 bit sparc and
7,8,9,10 for x86 and solaris 10 for x64. Why its not listed for
Solaris 10 on sparc is probarly worth asking.
The spec states it supports remote booting via PXE or RPL..

If it sounds interesting then the list of NICs are here:

Happy easter,

Thomas
