Default POST errors from SparcStation 10.

hi,

I get the following on my console output from one of my SparcStation 10s:

SMCC SPARCstation 10/20 UP/MP POST version VRV3.45 (09/11/95)

CPU_#0 TI, TMS390Z55(3.0) 1Mb External cache

CPU_#1 ******* NOT installed *******
CPU_#2 ******* NOT installed *******
CPU_#3 ******* NOT installed *******

>>>>> Power On Self Test (POST) is running .... <<<<<

CPU_00000000 >> error: ecc fsr
obs 00002501, exp 00008501, src addr 00000020, eoffset 00000020

Is this a memory or CPU error? Does it need new memory/cpu module(s)?

Any suggestions of where to look for help on this appreciated.

Thanks,

Kelly

I've tracked via substitution of parts that its the memory that is at
fault. the 2 16mb DIMMS seem to be at fault. I'm ordering more ram for
it anyway so not a problem.

Though I'm now getting SCSI sense errors:

SCSI Unexpected Phase = 0

Stack Underflow

Any ideas?

Kelly

I think I've seen this when using IBM disks which insist on feeding
TERMPWR on the internal SCSI bus which connects TERMPWR to ground.
Solution: Carefully unsolder and bend up the TERMPWR pin of the disk's
SCSI connector.

I checked the TERMPWR on the 2 drives (both Seagate hawks (2gb+1gb), and
they weren't set, removed the two little jumpers on them both (think
they were set to write protect and parity) and now the SS10 boots.

Now to get a HD50 external terminator so I can usea cdrom to boot and
install an OS on it.

Thanks,

Kelly
