Default POST hangs- what's up?

i am trying to revive an old sparc10. i installed a working hard
drive, frame buffer and and 50mhz hypersparc module, attach to the
port a, tip to it and power on. up comes the report on the processor,
no other processors detected message, the line that POST is now
starting, and then nothing .... for a long long time.

i tried various memory sdimms. if they are bad it tells me that, but
good ones give no message.

how do i diagnose what is wrong if POST gives no messages?

50 MHz _hyper_SPARC?

Anyway, some CPUs require minimum or special OpenBOOT releases.
