| Hi, I've just obtained a SPARCstation 20 from EBay, and I'm having trouble with the memory. The POST fails with the following error message: Power-On SelfTest FAILED .... SIMM <J0201> Not Installed The machine came with a single SIMM, and nothing else in any of the sockets. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this? I can't see anything useful in the SPARCstation 20 service manual on docs.sun.com Many thanks for any help |

Also check that it is properly seated. -- My real address is crn (at) netunix (dot) com WARNING all messages containing attachments or html will be silently deleted. Send only plain text. |

I had heard conflicting reports about which was the first DIMM slot, and had tried to put it into the socket closest to the front of machine, but then it complained no DIMM was installed... however it turns out that it wasn't quite seated properly when I tried to do that to start with but I've checked and now it's fine! Now to try netbooting the OpenBSD installer Many thanks. Cheers, Chris Howells |
