Default Q: What R these worth? Also upgrade workstation 5,10?

Hello!,

this is not a spam but I'm trying to figure out if I should part these
out or attempt to sell them, I have several monster rave systems 4u's,
ultrasparcIIi 440mhz 512M, various barricuda uw drives...2x hotswap
power supplies, 82cfm hot swap fans and lock hot swap scsi drive trays.
I also have several of thier 1u and 2u systems, the 1us and 2us are
barricuda atas I've had them in storage for a year or so...bought them
for my ex hosting business and never used them before things went
under. I haven't even priced or looked at equiptment in several years
having moved on out of the computer world.

I thought about ebay but man these 4u sons a beetches are heavy steel
rack cases tipping the scales at 55lbs+ I wouldn't be surprised if they
hit 65+ shipping would have to be close to $100 bucks I would think...

so what you think these are worth? if not that much I'll part em out
though thats a PITA

so my second question is can I take a workstation 5,10 and drop one of
these boards in there?

thanks!,
shawn

I've bought a few similar machines. For a sloppy seller who doesn't
bother to list what the machine has, these machines are not worth
selling. I got a 440mhz AXi machine (likely similar to yours) for $51
+ shipping. It turned out to have a RAID controller, tape drive,
cd-rom drive, floppy, monster steel case, graphics card, quad NIC etc
etc. Not all the best stuff, not even all completely working, but the
guy who sold it wasted his time in my opinion. I had fun putting in
some old used disks, installing solaris etc.

By contrast, a few years previously, similar stuff fetched $500 or
more. I think their time has passed. Why mess around with AXi when Sun
Blade 1000s are now coming down in price?

I'm not sure if it would physically fit, but it is not exactly the
same motherboard. The AXi has on-board SCSI, whereas Ultra 5/10 are
IDE. The RAM is a bit different as well.

Good luck anyway

Yeah I agree...for that $$ thats too big of a PITA to ship. I'll part
em...I could probably ship the 1us though. we'll see but thanks for the
opinion!

So where are you located? Shipping is the most important factor here.

I'm in tampa florida. I have 3 of the 5u's

http://www.rave.net/DOWNLOADS/rs/man...xi-5Ur-man.pdf

3 of the 1u's (2 drive trays)
and
1 2u (4 drive trays)

the 5u have 18gig cheetas, the 2u barricudas, and 1u's ata barricudas

the 5u's are scsi cdroms, etc. some have fore systems pc-200 and 1 4
port card. all 512M.

I think they were cox com boxes as my ex biz partner bought @ auction
couple years ago. If anybodys close by and wants to offer let me
know...otherwise next week i'll probably dismantle the 5u's,2u trash
the cases and sell the boards, cpu, mem, drives, etc on ebay, figure the
cheetas are probably @ $35ea on ebay, + boards, etc. 1u's I could
probably ebay for a few bucks those aren't too bad to ship.

oh I also have some 180gig u160 cheetas here. Used all of maybe a
couple weeks!

If no one wants the units or minds I'll post here or in sale when I
start parting them out if anyone needs some parts.

thanks!,
