| Hi, Is there support for AM2-based systems (chipsets, DDR2, etc) in Solaris 10 x86? I'm looking to do a handbuild and the Socket 939/DDR stuff seems to be a bit expensive compared to AM2/DDR2 lately. Is nForce 570/590 supported? I don't care about SLI, I intend to run a single decent videocard (say a fanless 7600GT) and I'd like to be able to multiboot into S10 as well as Linux and Win32 (or at least have them available as VMware guests) with full support for onboard networking, audio, etc. Any tips appreciated, - Matt -- "When in doubt, use brute force." - Ken Thompson |

| Well Ive just ordered an Asus M2N-E motherboard (AM2) specifically for Solaris. Make sure you get a cpu that does AMD-V while your at it, Any Rev F chip should do. (I've ordered a ADO3800CUBOX, x2 3800, 2Ghz 65w) Although an sli board could be handy if you later want to put in a PCI-e controller than needs more than x1 (the board mentioned above is not SLI but has a x16, x4 and two x1) I'll try to remember to post again when i have setup the system! I'v just build a Solaris 10 server with Supermicro H8SMi-2 AM2 socket motherboard and Opteron 1210 CPU. I had no other problems with nVidia MCP55 Pro chipset on this board than I had to install nfo(*) driver for the nVidia NICs. I didn't use on-board SATA ports because I have Areca 1220 SATA RAID-card. As memory I used 2 pieces of 1 gig Kingston ECC 800 MHz DDR2 modules, no problem with those either. * http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/ Tomi |

(The x2100/x2200/x4100/x4200 and Ultra 20 have all sprung M2 versions) Casper |
