| Sorry -- I didnt notice earlier that you already have that fixed. You could check if your /etc/nsswitch.conf has 'files' (i.e first files and then dns) for hosts. ---- Arjun. koneruarjun@gmail.com wrote: > hostname > /etc/hostname.hme0 > should solve the problem you reported. > > ///Arjun > alielmali78@gmail.com wrote: > > i have sol8, in E250 system, my problem is when i gave ip address to > > hme0 interface it is runnig correctly, it is in /etc/hosts in addition, > > but when i gave init 6 to system > > i coulf not see ip address, so i can not establish connection system, > > only after igave ip manually by means of ifconfig it it running, there > > is /etc/hostname.hme0 file that includes in hostname. what sould i do > > to solve this IP problem, i want to be able to connect my system after > > restart , without again giving ip . > > > > Regards > > Ali |

Thank you Ali # # /etc/netconfig file has a "-" for nametoaddr_libs of "inet" transports. passwd: files group: files hosts: files ipnodes: files networks: files protocols: files rpc: files ethers: files netmasks: files bootparams: files publickey: files # At present there isn't a 'files' backend for netgroup; the system will # figure it out pretty quickly, and won't use netgroups at all. netgroup: files automount: files aliases: files services: files sendmailvars: files printers: user files auth_attr: files prof_attr: files project: files |

What exactly is the contents of /etc/hostname.hme0? What does 'ifconfig -a' look like after reboot? Are there any warnings or errors on the console during boot? -- Darren Dunham ddunham@taos.com Senior Technical Consultant TAOS http://www.taos.com/ Got some Dr Pepper?
