SS1000/E

Will the system board for the SS1000 works in SS1000E? I believed the
XDbus for the 1000/40Mhz and 1000E/50Mhz and SBus 20/25Mhz. But will
the 1000E "downward compatible" somehow with a 1000 system board? or
the system board cannot mix/match at all? Thanks for your time.
