| hi there! we have a problem with diskspace on our oracle testserver. the machine is a sunfire v880 with a a5200 connected. the a 5200 has been fully equipped with 33gb fcal disks, and - surprise - they are full given the price for an additional a5200 with disks we called our sun reseller to send us some alternative *cheap and good* storage solutions. they came up with 1. a sun storage containing scsi disks connected to the server vis fibrechannel. costs about 22k euro 2. a "noname" storage containig sata disks connected to the server via scsi. costs: 11k euro i am not very experienced with sun hardware - but is'nt it possible to simply add a scsi card to the testserver (move the a5200 to the production server)? preferably a card with 2 external connectors so we can use 2 19" cases with scsi disks and connect them directly to the card. any suggestions/www-links/brands are very welcome greetings, ca mikusch |

We use a lot of the Nexsan storage devices. Easy way to add terabytes to a server on the cheap. The work well. (btw... this is the ULTRA cheap soln.... but I've never lost a drive yet and we've had some of our units for more than 2 years now) |
