| Being confused A LOT during my web search, I still did not find a precise answer to this: Can I use the Sun/Sony GDM 5410, 5010PT and 20E20 with an Indigo 2 (Solid Impact gfx) without the need of any minor or major modifications? Just bought a Sun Ultra 10 Creator3D and an SGI Indigo2 R10k Solid Impact from ebay auctions and I need a monitor which will work fine with both machines 13W3 outputs directly, without any VGA adaptors etc., just with the plug-in monitor cable with fixed 13W3 male connector! Do the monitors mentioned above do automatically SGI-compatible Sync ON Green via the 13W3 cable, or I will need special VGA adapter for the Indigo to work with it? And if what I ask for is not possible with these monitors, which other would DEFINATELY do the job? You see, no money and no room for two separate monitors... Just need to swap the cable from machine to machine before powering up! Thanks in advance!! |

All 3 models support separate syncs and composite sync, so my guess is that they will work okay. I would give preference to them in the order you listed them, the 20E20 being the oldest is least likely to last much longer if it has a lot of hours on it. |

So you should remove all pins except red-green-blue and it should work otherwise you probably kill your monitor or gfx card Toni -- I am root. If you see me laughing you better have a backup. |

Yes, the 20E20 works on my Indigo2 with High Impact. It also works on my laptop, which is nice. -- Dr Tristram J. Scott Energy Consultant |

My 20E20 works fine with both my Ultra 60 and my Octane. -- Stefaan -- As complexity rises, precise statements lose meaning, and meaningful statements lose precision. -- Lotfi Zadeh |

But still a little bit confused :-) A last thing to ask: Do you 20E20 users plug the SGIs directly from the GFX card's female connector to the monitor's built in 13W3 cable with male plug, without doing nothing else? And, for the 5010PT & 5410, do they synchronize on Green via the 13W3, or the SVGA built in connectors? Or perhaps, via both? Thank you very much!!! |

In my case, no converters or anything, I simply connect the cable to the sgi's 13W3 connector. -- Stefaan -- As complexity rises, precise statements lose meaning, and meaningful statements lose precision. -- Lotfi Zadeh |
