|hmmm, that machine looks rather nice.

While the machine specs are nice, I'm still trying to get used to the
actual looks - that bright red panel just sticks out like a sore thumb.
But then I wasn't sure about the SunBlade 1000 when it shipped and I've
learned to love it. (Unfortunately, I only get to see these machines in
shared labs, and just get to look at the SB100 on my desk all day.)

Yes, but to bad it has no fast gfx slot, like upa, agp or even a pci-x.
So i think i will stick with my blade 1000 for now.

I have seen things you lusers would not believe.
I've seen Sun monitors on fire off the side of the multimedia lab.
I've seen NTU lights glitter in the dark near the Mail Gate.
All these things will be lost in time, like the root partition last week.
Time to die.

I agree in both cases. What's the build quality of SB2500 like? SB1000
is "tank-like"

The basic price is $5000 and only includes basic Sun XVR-100 and a $70
7200RPM 36GB IDE hard drive. For this price I expect more like a midrange
graphics option and a 10k RPM SCSI drive.

Hi,

I think you have a little problem with reading ;-)

The system uses one or two 36 GB UltraSCSI drives not IDE.

The SB2500 doesn't have IDE disks but 10k RPM SCSI disk standard.

Hi,

Sorry you do not have a problem with reading. It is a mistake in the Sun
store catalog.

HTH,
