| Hi the SunFire V210 psu fans is not a long lasting one !,as i figured. have ~150 v210 running and changed 9 psu's in 1½ years. they tend to break after about 6 months. it has 2 so the box still is still ok running only warmer on one fan. "can i call it trouble v210 still running ok with users, when i want to change psu or fan, not hotswappable." any suggestions: bying new psu's for spare ? already ordered 2 not delivered yet. buy new: quality 40mm.("1.57) fans as spare ? i think i have to do both ! anyone have experiance on lowering temp by removing frontdoor/backdoor of a sun 9000 racks ? /jörgen |

No offense ment, but how can you say they tend to break after six months when you have 150 systems running for one year and you only changed nine? 9/150 = 6% is it the same system that have needed replacements several times or different systems? To me it seems like normal replacement, since there are two fans to each PSU that means only 3% of the fans have failed within a year? Sure , It could be better, but your bound to see some failures in this kind of setup. At least there ARE two fans so you can schedule a replacement instead of just having unplanned downtime. Or am I misreading here? /Johan A |

At least on the old Netra t1405, the MTBF for case fans was 20000h, so it means that when you have a few of them, something is constantly broken. And these are largish 120mm fans. I'd imagine the small ones pop a lot more often. > anyone have experiance on lowering temp by removing > frontdoor/backdoor of a sun 9000 racks ? Ours have doors removed, but mostly for convinience than anything else. If you've fully populated the racks with V210's, removing doors will do little. You will need better cooling in your lab to prevent overheating. Is there ample space behind the racks for the hot air to disperse? /Marcin |

With fans, I've generally been successful in locating all specs by putting the part number and brand from the FAN in google. This will then give you the CFM rating so you can pick comparable fans.
