| I have an old SunVideo card in my Ultra1 home, and a Suncam II attached to it, I have had it for years but never really cared for it.. However, now I have a use for it, and tried to download the drivers, with no success.. a search gives me only the SunVideo PCI drives, and when I look at the backlog of my downloads I cna see that I downloaded the drivers (for sbus) several years ago, however I cant download it again (wich normally is possible..) Have Sun stopped supporting this ? ..does anyone happens to have the drivers and software for it ? (I'm running Solaris 8) |

(I'm running Solaris 8) Its included in Solaris! Look for SUNWrtv packages on your machine or CD:s. /wfr Fredrik -- Fredrik Lundholm dol @ ce.chalmers.se |

The drivers are even bundled with Solaris 9, as well as previous versions. As Fredik mentioned the drivers should be part of the full Solaris 8 install (look under /opt/SUNWrtvc). Unfortunately Sun have removed downloads of their ShowME TV player that was able to display video from the card. Another utility that makes use of the card in the Java Media Framework player (the Solaris variant). Regards, AT |

Unfortunately Sun have removed I have to admit that I felt a bit stupid when I found the stuff already installed on my machine (btw, Thanks for pointing it out Fredrik >downloads of their ShowME TV player that was able to display video >from the card. I used /opt/SUNWrtvc/examples/test/SunVideo to display video, it also seem to be able to capture video, but when i tried it coredumped, I had no use for videocapture so I didnt bother with trying to get it to work. >Another utility that makes use of the card in the Java Media >Framework player (the Solaris variant). The 'vic' application available at this URL: http://www-mice.cs.ucl.ac.uk/multimedia/software/vic/ (original version can be found at "http://www-nrg.ee.lbl.gov/vic/") supports the SunVideo cards. I don't know for certain whether it supports both the Sbus Osprey-1100 clone (aka SunVideo) and the PCI Osprey-1500 clone (aka SunVideo+), or just the Sbus one, but 'vic' is something which stands alone as being perhaps the most highly-developed application beside Sun's own ShowMeTV v1.3 (and SunForum which also supports the SunVideo cards) application. There's little else available, although I do have some c++ source for a streaming video engine for the SunVideo Sbus cards which doesn't work properly and I've never had the time or inclination to make it work. It was written by a guy called Matt Evans. A friend of mine put me onto a site at Sourceforge where there are Brooktree bt848, etc. drivers which work with Solaris. The URL for this is: http://bt848x.sourceforge.net/ Check that out too.
