| Hi, I have an Ultra-80 with a Creator3D Series 3 graphics adapter, running the Solaris 9 OS. I recently installed the KDE 3.2.3 desktop software on it. After installing and logging in to KDE, I noticed that the color looked bad, something I didn't notice on CDE with its low-color schemes. I then looked up how to change the framebuffer into true color mode. After doing this, I noticed KDE looked a lot better, but once I started opening applications and more windows came on the screen, they became corrupted. I logged into CDE and didn't notice this, but I did notice that Netscape's icon looked a lot better, with more colors. Is KDE too much for this card's graphics memory or something? Would upgrading to the Elite3D make this problem go away? I'm really unfamiliar with the color capabilities of Sun's graphics cards, and I really don't have a good understanding of how X works with colors at the lower levels. Thanks, Chris |
