Default Want to Add Hard Drives to E3500 On-the-Fly

I have an ST336704FC hard drive that I want to install on-the-fly into
an E3500. E3500's are suppose to support hot-swappable drives. Since
this is a new disk, do you see any problems? Do I have to run luxadm or
any other command before or after installation of the new hard drive?
Thank you in advance.

Thank you. I installed seven new 36GB drives on-the-fly. But now, it's
only showing three of the new drives (c0t1d0, c0t2d0, and c0t3d0 ).
c2t1d0 is an attached T300. Any advice?

I also shutdown the server. Ran "boot -r" and the server still doesn't
see the new drives on Controller 1.

It is becuse you dont have the other drives connected to the controller.
Check the fibre and connectors in the back.

Put a GBIC into the UA slot in the interface board onthe back of the
3500. YOu already have a cable in LA.

Connect this GBIC to one on the I/O Board. Then try it. This should
give you the upper four drives and WWNs that start with 2100 (like the
ones seen by format). Connecting to UB wil give WWNs starting with 2200.

Thank you. That sounds reasonable but what's a UB?

Ok UB is Upper Bank. I get it now. Yes, we have GBIC's for LB and LA but
not UB. I bet you that's it. Thanks. We'll give it a try.

Ok,

we installed an HBA in the I/O board and a GBIC in the UB. Still no
luck. What else can we try?
